A video, webinar, and podcast are now available to watch/hear Eric Martinot talk about the REN21 Renewables Global Futures Report, courtesy of the Japan Renewable Energy Foundation (JREF), the International Solar Energy Society (ISES), and Monocle Radio.
1. A 15-minute video presentation by Eric Martinot on the Global Futures Report is now available online at http://jref.or.jp/en/activities/events_20130226.php (Go to Session 4, 4:30pm, and watch minutes 1:25 to 15:45.) This presentation was made during the “REvision 2013″ conference hosted by the Japan Renewable Energy Foundation, February 26, in Iino Hall in Tokyo. The presentation is oriented towards the Japanese audience (probably 300 people), and touches on five “myths” about renewable energy that continue to persist in Japan (and elsewhere, of course): (1) That renewable energy will never reach large shares; (2) That investment in renewable energy will never get big; (3) That energy storage is necessary for large shares of renewables on power grids; (4) That renewable energy costs too much; and (5) That there is not enough land area. None of these myths are true of course, and the fact that they persist shows that thinking about renewable energy is 15-20 years out-of-date in Japan.
2. The International Solar Energy Society (ISES) hosted a webinar on the Global Futures Report on February 27, including a 35-minute presentation and then extensive questions and answers, for a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes. About 110 people participated. The webinar is now online at: http://www.ises-online.de/what-we-do/events/webinars/webinar-27-february-2013/
3. The radio program “Monocle 24: The Globalist” interviewed Eric Martinot for 10 minutes on February 18 (Edition 342).
